Mean Old River
In the city where I grew up
I had a lady, my life was full of love
I had a baby who was fine and fair
But that river washed ‘em all down there
Mean old river, gone and carried them away
Mean old river, gone and carried them away
Mean old river, carried them down to their grave
I miss my momma
I miss my poppa, too
I miss my brother and all the bad things that he do
I miss my sister
With her long brown hair
And I hate the river that killed 'em all down there
Mean old river, gone and carried them away
Mean old river, gone and carried them away
Mean old river, carried them down to their grave
